The One-year Masters programme is offered over 11 months and incorporates 10 to 13 coursework modules as well as a research project (thesis) running partially concurrently throughout the programme. The programme has been successfully running since 2011 and is regularly over-subscribed. It has had some significant successes in producing bioinformatics researchers, and over 70% (10 out of 14) of completing students have continued in PhD programmes in various South African universities. Check out the Quality Assurance (QA) documents for the last few years to get a better idea of what the programme consists of:
Students may also elect to do the traditional MSc by thesis over two years, and of course, RUBi also welcomes PhD candidates.
